About The Team

Grey Ghost Racing was founded in 2002 to promote open wheel racing in the Northwest. Its founder, Rodney Jessen, revived the name from his father's, Gary Jessen Sr.'s drag racing team that ended with his death in 1959. From day one the team was fortunate to secure two major sponsors, Electro Serve & Plumb Serve, who have been instrumental to the team's success.

Rodney Jessen is also the driver of #39, the Electro Serve & Plumb Serve car. His racing background however is from motorcycles. He started riding in 1971 and was racing motorcross & offroad by 1977, getting his professional racing license by 1983. Rodney raced select regional & national events, qualifying to race in two Seattle Supercrosses. In 1985 he decided to race in a new developing series consisting of stand-up jet skiis in lakes and surf called the IJSBA National Series. That same year he qualified to race in the IJSBA world finals at Lake Havisul, AZ. Rodney was leading the race for the amature world championship when he was forced to retire due to engine failure. The ensuing years saw a marriage and retirement from racing. In 2001 Rodney decided to go to ProFormance Race School for an afternoon of fun. That started the ball rolling.
